Influence of row spacing and weed management on the nutrient uptake by soybean (Glycine max L.) Merrill and associated weeds

The effect of various weed control treatments and different row spacings (narrow (30 cm) and wide (60 cm)) for soyabeans was investigated in field trials on silty clay loam in Pantnagar during the rainy seasons of 1985-86. Higher amounts of nutrients were taken up by grassy weeds, mainly Echinochloa colonum, Eleusine indica and Digitaria sanguinalis than broadleaved weeds, mainly Commelina benghalensis and Portulaca oleracea.
