Influence of some methods of soil working on its characteristics as well as on wheat, maize and sunflower yields and on fuel consumption

In 1984-89, wheat, maize and sunflowers were sown in a cambic chernozem worked by ploughing to 23-25 cm depth, chiselling or discing to 12-14 cm depth and 0-120 kg N + 0-60 kg P2O5/ha was applied. Grain yields were 4.3, 4.08 and 4.15 t/ha in wheat and 6.14, 5.75 and 5.61 t in maize and seed yields were 2.57, 2.47 and 2.57 t in sunflowers in soil prepared by ploughing, chiselling and discing, respectively.
