Sorghum CSH-5 was grown on a black clay loam at Dharwad in kharif 1986 after incorporation of 0, 3, 6 and 9 t water hyacinth compost (WHC)/ha and using 0, 25, 50 and 100% of the recommended fertilizer rate of 100 kg N + 75 kg P2O5 + 37.5 kg K2O/ha. Grain yield was 3.18 t/ha without WHC and 3.70 t with 9 t WHC/ha. Each increment of NPK increased yields; mean grain yield was 2.32 t/ha without NPK and 4.52 t with the recommended rate.
