32 barrows matched for genotype, liveweight and age were given diets with high energy (130% of recommended values), medium energy (100% of RV), low energy (90% of RV) or very low energy (82% of RV). Digestible crude protein, lysine, methionine + cystine, calcium and phosphorus was similar among diets; odd-chain fatty acids (25.3% of total fatty acids) were provided by n-alkane yeast. Average daily gain was 628, 611, 321 and 248 g.
