The objective of the research is to assess the possibilities for the Caribbean Islands' future survival and competitiveness in international tourism. This objective is achieved through empirical analyses undertaken at the international and Caribbean levels. The theory of innovation diffusion provides the major theoretical basis of the thesis. At the international level, the growth, development, and diffusion of new technologies in the international tourist industry are considered.
