Juice yield and Brix as affected by genotype, plant density and N levels in high energy sorghums
In a trial in the 1987 kharif season with 2 high energy sorghum (HES) cultivars grown at 2 plant densities, increasing N rates (0, 40, 80 and 120 kg/ha) increased the average juice yields from 9478 to 11 176 litres/ha. Crops grown at densities of 180 000 and 270 000 plants/ha gave yields of 10 111 and 10 927 litres, respectively. Cultivar HES 4 and HES 13 gave yields of 11 339 and 9669 litres, respectively.
