Keep calcium level in the fruit up to standard

Data are presented on average fruit weight, fruit total Ca contents, fruit flesh K and Ca contents and K:Ca ratios corrected (or not) for fruit weight, for Cox's Orange Pippin and Boskoop apples for the years 1983-1988 and 1989, 1990 and 1991, and for Jonagold apples for 1989, 1990 and 1991. These analyses, made early in the season, did not give a clear indication of the subsequent fruit susceptibility to bitter pit and flesh breakdown.
