Killing activity of benzamido-2 nitro-5 thiazole and its derivatives on Lymnaea peregra ovata Muller (Mollusca: Pulmonata) and Gammarus pulex pulex L. (Crustacea: Amphipoda)

The activities of benzamido-2 nitro-5 thiazole (BNT) and of its derivatives, (1) bromo-2 BNT, (2) chloro-2, fluoro-6 BNT and (3) acetoxy-2 BNT against L. peregra ovata and G. pulex were compared to that of niclosamide. The LC50 values for exposures of 24 to 96 h are tabulated. Compounds 2 and 3 were more toxic for the molluscs than for the crustaceans, whilst the reverse was true for compound 1.
