Abstract
A method for recording surface roughness using the ME 10 Carl Zeiss (Jena) profilographometer (range 200 micro m) is described in which the peaks are recorded, and the measuring head lowered to measure the troughs which are recorded on the same length of chart paper by refeeding it through the profilograph. Worked examples are given for samples with unevennesses up to 2x and more than 2x the range of the profilograph.
