Meiotic chromosome behaviour in hybrids of Triticum dicoccoides with Triticum durum and Triticum dicoccum



Biovigyanam 15(1): 28-32



Two cultivated tetraploid wheats, T. durum N59 and T. dicoccum KDH, were crossed with the wild tetraploid T. dicoccoides. Pairing behaviour at metaphase I showed the mean number of bivalents to be 14 in both parents and F1 hybrids. The T. durum X T. dicoccoides F1 hybrid had the highest total chiasmata frequency/PMC at diplotene and second highest at metaphase I.
