The construction and use in South Africa of a fumigation chamber for applying methyl bromide against mite and insect pests of pineapple planting material are described. The chamber is constructed of brick double cavity walls with heavy gauge PVC sheeting (at least 150 mu ) sandwiched between the walls to provide an effective seal. Other methods of sealing are discussed, and notes are provided on circulation of the gas, source of gas, temperature of fumigation, and dosage.
