Milk yield of crossbred Holstein cows in relation to environmental and genetic factors

Data were analysed on the 1st-lactation performance of 4861 cows that were Holstein X Russian Black Pied (RBP) crossbreds with >76, 51-75, 26-50 or <25% Holstein inheritance, or were RBP purebreds. Analysis of variance using 3 models was carried out to study the effects of herd-yr-season, herd, year of calving, season, genotype of cow, sire, lactation duration and the interaction between herd and cow genotype.
