Morpho-physiological characters responsible for higher plant yield under dryland conditions in brassicas

In a study of 7 accessions of Brassica juncea, 2 of B. carinata and one each of B. campestris, B. tournefortii and Eruca sativa for drought resistance during 1979-80, the correlations between yield and 5 principal + 15 subsidiary morphological/physiological traits were determined under dryland conditions. Significant and positive correlations were found between yield and both seed size and harvest index. Path analysis indicated the main yield components.
