Accession: 002174211

A list of the main sources of morphological variation observed in 1600 3rd-instar larvae of G. nasalis (taken from 490 horses) is presented. The most variable characters appeared to be the number and arrangement of spines in the last ventral row and colour of the larvae. Morphological variation was also observed in the shape of the larvae, alterations to other rows of spines and to the spines themselves (e.g. fusion, deformity), and alterations to the mouth hooks.
