On the biology of the shot-hole bark beetle Scolytus amygdali Guer. (Coleoptera: Scolytidae) on pear trees in Egypt

The life cycle of Scolytus amygdali, a pest in pear orchards in Egypt, was studied in the laboratory. The egg, larval, pupal and adult stages lasted 5-15, 24-123, 5-14 and 15-52 days, resp. The total life cycle lasted between 47 to 164 days and the scolytid had 5 generations per year.
