Data on 3267 New Zealand White (NZW) and Giant Silver (GS) rabbits in 457 litters, born over a period of 3 yr, were analysed. Litter size at birth averaged 6.9, 7.4, 7.6 and 7.9 resp. for NZW and GS purebreds and NZW X GS and GS X NZW crossbreds, of which 6.4, 7.1, 7.3 and 7.5 resp. were liveborn (P<0.05), and litter size at weaning averaged 5.2, 5.0, 5.8 and 6.1 (P<0.01).
