A case of peritonitis is reported in a 79-yr-old man who had been maintained on CAPD for 2 yrs. C. lusitaniae was isolated from peritoneal fluid and catheter. The patient was treated with intraperitoneal 5-fluorocytosine at a dose of 200 mg every 6 h for 3 d, decreasing to 100 mg/6 h. Ketoconazole was given simultaneously at a dose of 400 mg/d orally, this being substituted by intraperitoneal miconazole (100 mg/6 h).
