Physiological studies on Chrysanthemum morifolium Ram. 2. Effects of Cycocel, gibberellic acid and nucleic acids on flowering and inflorescence characters

The possibility of changing the flowering date of chrysanthemum (cv. Forester) was investigated by giving 2 applications of GA3 (as a spray at 100 p.p.m.), Cycocel (as a spray or soil drench at 5000 p.p.m.) or nucleic acids (NAs) extracted from Zinnia elegans and dissolved in saline to give a concentration of 50 micro g/ml. The treatments were applied in early Aug. and 20 days later. Both GA3 and the NAs induced earlier flowering, while Cycocel as a soil drench delayed it.
