Physiological studies on physiological fruit drop of Japanese persimmon, Diospyros kaki Thunb. V. Relationship between auxin in fruit and physiological fruit drop of Japanese persimmon, cv. 'Hiratanenashi'

When a lanolin paste containing 500 p.p.m. NAA was applied to intact fruits, application to the apex reduced fruit abscission, whereas application to the sepals induced it, whether or not the trees were shaded. In another experiment, the difference between the endogenous IAA concentrations of the fruit and the sepals increased 4-5 days before the peak in the number of fruits undergoing abscission and decreased as the abscission process continued.
