Phytomass dynamics and deer and cattle nutrition under different grazing practices in the Texas Coastal Bend

Phytomass dynamics and deer and cattle nutrition under different grazing practices in the Texas Coastal Bend

Dissertation Abstracts International B, Sciences and Engineering 52(5): 2379B

A 2-year study was conducted at the Welder Wildlife Refuge in the Texas Coastal Bend to determine the nutritive quality of deer (Odocoileus virginianus) and cattle diets and phytomass dynamics under continuous yearlong (CYG) and short duration grazing (SDG) at 2 stocking rates, heavy (HE) (1 AU 2.4 ha year) and moderate (MO) (1 AU/4.9 ha year). Nutritive value of plant species consumed by deer was determined.
