Pilot plant study on microaerobic self-granulated sludge process (multi-stage reversing flow bioreactor: MRB)

Pilot plant study on microaerobic self-granulated sludge process (multi-stage reversing flow bioreactor: MRB)

Water Science and Technology 23(4-6): 973-980

The design and operating characteristics of the Multi-stage Reversing-flow Bioreactor (MRB) are described. The MRB used symbiotic interaction between anaerobic sulfate-reducing bacteria and filamentous sulfur-oxidizing bacteria (particularly Beggiatoa) to produce self-granulated pellets. A pilot-plant for the treatment of domestic sewage was successfully developed.
