Preliminary studies on the evaluation of salt tolerance in broad bean and cowpea germplasm resources

Salt tolerance at the seedling stage was assessed on a 1 (high) to 5 (low) scale in 663 Vicia faba and 785 Vigna unguiculata subsp. sesquipedalis varieties in 1986-89. Thirty-five of the former and two of the latter had class 2 tolerance, with none showing class 1 tolerance.
