Productivity of twenty olive (Olea europaea L.) cultivars

In an experimental orchard, the productivity of 20 named cultivars, grafted on Galega Vulgar, was assessed by recording the earliness of fruiting, total fruit yield and bearing index. The cultivars were placed in 4 groups, by cumulative yield (from < 10 to 35 kg/tree/year). Trees grafted on Galega Vulgar itself showed a high alternate bearing index (64.29%); 5 other cultivars had a higher bearing index.
