Quantitative traits in synthetic amphidiploids and autotetraploids of wheat and Aegilops
The results are presented of a study of amphidiploids derived from interspecific and intergeneric crosses involving Triticum urartu, T. boeoticum, T. monococcum, T. sinskajae and A. tauschii Polyploidization of the hybrids reduced fertility, as it did in their parents (autotetraploids), and the C1- C5 amphidiploids were generally inferior to the initial diploid species in a number of yield-related quantitative traits.
