Relationship between the height growth rate of spruce and the age difference of spruce and pine in spruce-pine stands of north-eastern part of Poland

Relationship between the height growth rate of spruce and the age difference of spruce and pine in spruce-pine stands of north-eastern part of Poland

Annals of Warsaw Agricultural University SGGW AR, Forestry and Wood Technology ( 36): 89-96

Studies were made in artificially regenerated pine stands (even-aged) with naturally regenerated spruce of a wide age range including, on many sites, retained spruce undergrowth from the previous rotation. Taking average values for different stand compositions, spruce height growth increased with age class in stands with age differences relative to pine of -50 to +40 yr. Spruce trees older by 0-10 yr had the highest growth rate when spruce was predominant.
