Research on water saving on sandy soil in drip irrigation (II). Mulching, temperature control and crop production in drip irrigation

The effect of mulching on soil and air temp. profile was studied in 2 experiments. Data from white translucent and black coloured plastics, groundnut husk (crushed to 1/4 of original size) and rice husk were compared to those for a control plot (not mulched) and the effects of those mulches on yield, evapotranspiration, water use efficiency and growth were evaluated given that the soil moisture was kept at an optimum level through adequate monitoring of evapotranspiration.
