Resistance to C. medinalis under natural infestation was assessed using 26 and 30 rice entries interplanted with susceptible IR20 during 1984 and 1985, respectively. During 1984 damage ranged from 2.7% in TNAU-LFR 831322 to 5.6% (TNAU-LFR 831323) 90 days after transplanting (DAT). The highest yields were recorded by TNAU-LFR 831320 (3959 kg/ha) even though it recorded 5.2% damage.
