Responses of adrenal medulla to oral administration of organophosphorus pesticides in roseringed parakeets Psittacula krameri borealis (Neumann)

Methyl parathion phosphamidon and quinalphos were given orally to adult male parakeets. Each pesticide was applied at 3 different doses, i.e. 50, 100 and 200 micro g/kg body weight/day, and the effects on the adrenal medulla were studied after 1, 5 and 10 days (involving cytology of epinephrine (E) and norepinephrine (NE) containing cells, and quantitative estimations of these neurohormones).
