Serodiagnosis of prepatent dirofilariasis: problems and significance

Serodiagnosis of prepatent dirofilariasis: problems and significance

Journal of the American Animal Hospital Association 27(1): 33-38

Serum samples from 100 dogs with prepatent or non-patent infections with Dirofilaria immitis (between 97 and 197 days) were examined using 3 antigen-detecting test kits (CITE, Dirochek, and Filarochek); sensitivities were 15%, 15%, and 73%, respectively. Filarochek first detected infection at 134 days, while the earliest infections detected by CITE and Dirochek were both at 154 days.
