Seroepidemiology of hepatitis B infection in children in Vanuatu. Implications for vaccination strategy

Medical Journal of Australia 154(4): 249-253

Studies over the past few years have shown that hepatitis B viral (HBV) infections are widespread in the South Pacific region. In this investigation, the seroprevalence of HBV infections among children in Vanuatu, an island nation in the south-west Pacific Ocean was studied. The authors investigated 3 groups of children: 112 aged 12-18 months; 176 aged 30-42 months; 194 aged 54-115 months. In addition 110 mothers of the children in the youngest group were examined.
