Serological and haematological studies on contagious equine metritis

Serological and haematological studies on contagious equine metritis

Monatshefte fur Veterinarmedizin 47(6): 329-335

A passive haemagglutination test, using hyperimmune serum against Taylorella equigenitalis prepared in horses, was as specific and sensitive as agglutination and 'heat' tests, but was quicker and easier to perform. These serological tests and complement fixation were used on two experimentally infected pony mares. Specific agglutinin was present between 15 and 30 days after infection, but complement-fixing antibody was absent.
