Serological and morphological observation on the outer membrane of ruminal Bacteroides ruminicola subspecies ruminicola

Serological and morphological properties of the outer membrane of ruminal B. ruminicola subsp. ruminicola were investigated. Purity of the outer membrane preparation was certified by electron microscopy. In the immunodiffusion test, the outer membrane antigen of B. ruminicola subsp. ruminicola showed a single precipitin line between rabbit antiserum raised against the homologous specimen.
