Serological evaluation in follow up of the paracoccidioidomycosis patients

Serological evaluation in follow up of the paracoccidioidomycosis patients

Revista de Microbiologia 21(1): 11-18

Serological evaluation was employed to compare four (4) serodiagnostic tests in the follow-up of Pbmycosis patients. Immunodiffusion (ID), counterimmunoelectrophoresis (CIE), complement fixation test (CF) and magnetic enzyme linked immunoabsorbent assay (MELISA) were compared in the study of the follow-up of 20 patients with Pbmycosis being 2 cases of the juvenile form and 18 cases of pulmonary progressive form. The radiological aspect mild, moderate and severe was reported in 2, 6 and 10 and evolutive study showed improvement in 2; worsening in 6 and maintenance in 10 cases. Cor pulmonale was observed in 2 patients. The semestral serology enhance that: showed after 2 years that: 1. C.I.E. and C.F. positive testes were more observed in cases of clinical maintenance. 2. Clinical remission was followed by I.D. MELISA negative test. The semestral MELISA for clinical follow-up of patients revealed improvement optical with densities inferior to 1.90 and relapses superior to 2.00.
