Serological prevalence of toxoplasmosis in 346 HIV positive patients in eastern France. Serological monitoring of individuals uninfected by Toxoplasma gondii

Serological prevalence of toxoplasmosis in 346 HIV positive patients in eastern France. Serological monitoring of individuals uninfected by Toxoplasma gondii

Presse Medicale 21(8): 394-395

A total of 346 HIV positive patients were tested for toxoplasmosis at their first consultation in Strasbourg, France. 59% were seropositive by indirect immunofluorescence but none had specific IgM as revealed by immunocapture. This prevalence was similar to that of the population at large and was not significantly correlated to mode of HIV contamination, sex, clinical symptoms or the number of CD4 + lymphocytes.
