Serum cholinesterase and erythrocyte acetylcholinesterase activities in patients infected with Plasmodium vivax

Alterations in serum cholinesterase (ChE) and erythrocyte acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activities were investigated in 152 adult Plasmodium vivax-infected malarial patients in Madras, India, before and after commencement of radical treatment with chloroquine (600 mg) and primaquine (15 mg) for 2 days followed by primaquine (15 mg) for 3 days. The results were compared with those from 214 apparently healthy age-matched controls.
