Serum level and tissue residue of swine following intramuscular injection of sulfamethazine

Journal of the Chinese Society of Veterinary Science 15(4): 335-340

Sulfamethazine serum level as well as residues in liver, kidney and muscle of swine were studied following a 3-day continuous intramuscular injection of Sulfamethazine at a dosage rate 110 mg/kg/day. A peak serum level resulted in two hours after the last injection, and then decreased slightly and slowly. The effective serum level persisted for approximately 24 hours. Liver, kidney and muscle residue level reached down 0.03, 0.01 and 0.01 ppm, respectively 9 days after withdrawal. All tissue residues were undetected 12 days after withdrawal of medication.
