Serum selenium levels in untreated children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. I

Serum selenium levels in untreated children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. I

Journal of Trace Elements and Electrolytes in Health and Disease 4(1): 7-10

Serum selenium concentration was measured in 89 children that had malignant proliferative diseases. The largest number had acute lymphatic leukaemia (78 children), 5 children had Hodgkin's and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and 6 had other malignant proliferative diseases. Blood was sampled at the time of diagnosis. The selenium concentration was compared with that in 79 normal children. In both groups the children who were 1-16 years old, were divided into 3-5 year sub-groups.
