Serum zinc in coeliac syndrome

Serum zinc in coeliac syndrome

Revista Italiana di Pediatria 15(5): 480-484

Zinc was estimated by atomic absorption spectrophotometry in the serum of 64 children, 7 months to 18 years old, with coeliac syndrome on a normal diet, or a gluten-free diet for at least 6 months, or on a normal diet during a gluten challenge. Controls were 31 children who underwent intestinal biopsy because of their short stature or chronic diarrhoea. Mean values for the 4 groups were 80+or-22, 115+or-42, 89.5+or-31 and 99+or-24 micro g/100 ml, respectively.
