Service behaviour of bulls of different breeds under uniform management conditions

Five Holstein, 5 Jersey and 5 crossbred Holstein bulls and 5 Murrah buffalo bulls were scored during semen collection on a scale of 0-4 (0 = no response) for sexual interest, erection, protrusion of the penis, mounting, reaction time, body position, type of seeking and ejaculation. There was no seasonal difference among the bull groups for any trait, except reaction time. For the 3 types of cattle and the buffaloes, reaction time averaged 2.99, 2.82, 3.01 and 3.09 min resp.
