Sesquiterpene esters from Maytenus disticha

Phytochemistry 9(10): 3225-3228

Four new sesquiterpenes, 9 beta-benzoyloxy-1alpha,6beta-diacetoxy-15 hydroxy-dihydro-beta-agarofuran, 9beta-benzoyloxy-1 alpha,6beta, 15-triacetoxy-8alpha-hydroxydihydro-beta agarofuran, 9beta-benzoyloxy-1 alpha,6beta,8alpha,15-tetracetoxydihydro beta-agarofuran and 1alpha, 9beta-dibenzoyloxy-6beta,8beta-diacetoxy 4beta-hydroxydihydro-beta-agarofuran were isolated from Maytenus disticha. Their structures were determined by spectroscopic studies, chemical correlations and selective hydrolysis. The absolute configuration of the last compound mentioned above was determined by CD.
