Special forest-pathology surveys in the Austrian inventory of forest condition, 1984-88. Scots pine stands, Bucklige Welt

Special forest-pathology surveys in the Austrian inventory of forest condition, 1984-88. Scots pine stands, Bucklige Welt

FBVA Berichte ( 19): 5-54

Details are given of studies in the Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris) areas of the Bucklige Welt (Burgenland, Austria). The crown condition was very poor, with 91% of the sample areas having a mean crown ('thinning') index of >1.5, and 22% being worse than 2.0. Evaluation of the symptoms revealed that only when >=50% of the sample trees had damage (irrespective of type) did an effect on the canopy become visible.
