Spectrum of mutations induced by gamma rays and ethylmethane sulphonate in yam bean (Pachyrrhizus erosus Linn.)

Seeds were gamma -irradiated (10, 15, 20 and 25 kR) or treated with ethyl methanesulfonate (EMS; 0.5, 0.75, 1.0 and 1.25%). In the M2 dwarf, erect and spreading plant types were noted. Mutations affecting leaves included changes in leaf number, size and shape. Plants with crinkled leaves were also obtained. Lengths of inflorescences and pods were profoundly affected with increases and decreases in size.
