Structural changes in plasma membranes of potato tubers induced by glycoconjugates from potato blight pathogen

Phytophthora infestans glycoconjugates and N-acetyl-D-glucosamine applied to plasma membranes of potato tubers, caused quenching of plasmalemma tryptophan fluorescence and broadening on the main temp.-dependent structural transition in the plasmalemma (this was determined using a fluorescent probe (3-methoxybenzanthrone)). These effects were greater with glycoconjugates from an incompatible race and plasmalemma isolated from wounded tubers.
