In early maturing paddy fields in Japan surrounded by medium maturing paddy fields, the population density of Nephotettix cincticeps, the ratio of adult females to total adults, and the ratio of mature females to total females became higher than those in the medium maturing fields on and after the heading date in 1978 and 1979.
