Ovaries were obtained from slaughtered Holstein and native cattle. Oocyte-cumulus complexes from follicles 2-5 mm in diameter were removed and incubated in medium 199 supplemented with 20% fetal calf serum, FSH, HCG and oestradiol-17 beta for 28 h at 39 degrees C.
