Studies on the direct feeding damage due to the green rice leafhopper, Nephotettix cincticeps Uhler, on rice plants. 5. Loss assessment of the direct feeding damage and control guide of the green rice leafhopper at the reproductive stage of rice plants
Bulletin of the Hiroshima Prefectural Agricultural Experimental Station 54: 1-12
By assessing damage caused by Nephotettix cincticeps to rice in cage experiments and in the field in 1974-82 in Japan, the tolerance injury level (economic threshold (ET) ?) was estimated to be 40 N. cincticeps per hill for early-ripening rice cultivars and 200 N. cincticeps per hill for later-ripening cultivars. Late in the season the density of the N. cincticeps population, at 10 per hill in 1974-83 and 2 per hill in 1986-90, was below the ET and it is recommended that no control measures are taken on late crops.
