Abstract
This New Zealand variety, which is submitted for the registration of plant variety rights in Australia, was developed by the open crossing of 15 selected lines and is maintained through generations by the open crossing of progeny. Necton is early-midseason flowering (15 days earlier than Aokau), semi-erect to erect in growth habit, and is similar to Aokau in height at flowering but produces more flowering stems (5-20 vs. 2-12), has larger central leaflets and more leaflet pairs.
