Surface lectin binding characteristics of microfilariae (mf) and developing stages of B. malayi in A. subalbatus, an unnatural vector, were investigated. The following lectins were used: wheat germ agglutinins, lentil agglutinins, Helix aspersa agglutinins, Concanavalin A agglutinins, kidney bean agglutinins, asparagus pea agglutinins and peanut agglutinins. Frequent changes in surface carbohydrate moieties on developing stages of B. malayi were observed.
