, : The effects of different concentrations of 'pure' and technical phenol on root cells of onion (Allium cepa). Genetika Beograd 21(2): 165-170

Phenol (at concentrations of 0.02, 0.05 and 0.10%) was observed to have specific mutagenic effects on mitosis, as shown by decreased mitotic activity and the occurrence of abnormal prophases, prometaphases, anaphases and telophases. Inhibition of mitotic activity increased with increasing phenol concentration.
