The effects of erythromycin base and terbinafine on gastric emptying and the oro-caecal transit time

, : The effects of erythromycin base and terbinafine on gastric emptying and the oro-caecal transit time. Medical Science Research 20(4): 139

The effects of erythromycin base (Erymax) and terbinafine (Lamisil) on gastric emptying of liquids, as assessed by evaluating the rate of paracetamol absorption, and on the oro-caecal transit time, as assessed by the sulphasalazine/sulphapyridine method, were investigated in 6 healthy volunteers. It was shown that none of the pretreatments influenced the oro-caecal transit time and erythromycin did not significantly accelerate gastric emptying.
